RED Umbrella coffee roaster

Welcome to the Red Umbrella Coffee Roaster! The Roasting House regular hours are Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday from 3pm to 6pm, call or text, 612-390-4830, if you need to stop by outside of these hours.

The coffee beans I sell are roasted in small 2 liter batches. I roast once or twice monthly to insure that the coffee beans I offer are fresh and have the ability to provide you with a delightful cup of coffee. You may purchased the coffee beans whole or I will grind to your preference. If you’re not able to visit the Roasting House during regular business hours contact me and we’ll see what we can arrange – Simply text or call 612-390-4830 To ensure I’m offering you the freshest coffee beans possible I do not roast large batches nor do I store a large quantity of roasted coffee beans. Keeping the quantity small ensures freshness and it also makes it difficult to be able to offer Online Ordering. Online Ordering is not available at this time.

If you’d like to acquire Red Umbrella Coffee please don’t hesitate to contact me at 612-390-4830.

In an effort to have the freshest coffee beans available for you I do not roast batches larger than 2 liters per bean. If there is a particular bean that has been ‘flying off the shelf’ I will roast a second load. Many of the ‘Top Sellers’ do sell out within days of the roast date. I post roast dates on social media. Don’t hesitate to send a text or call to see if your favorate bean is available, I will happily set it aside for you to pick up.

Please keep in mind that coffee beans are a crop and some of our favorite beans are currently out of stock because the green beans are out of stock at the distributor. I check their website almost daily and will acquire our favorites when they’re available.

“It truly is Delicious”

I was never a big coffee drinker before and only drank it to stay awake during my long odd shifts. But now, I savor your coffee. It’s delectable!

“I Look Forward to it!”

I started drinking coffee in the Military and found I needed to camouflage it with sweeteners. This coffee is so fresh and full of flavor that I can drink it black and it tastes great!

“I have not disliked any!”

I never considered myself a coffee drinker. Thought I didn’t like coffee. Until I tasted well made fresh roasted coffee. Turns out I only like good coffee. Mikki is good at this. Of all the varieties, have not disliked any. That surprised me.

“Thank you Red Umbrella Coffee!”

Oh! Red Umbrella! You have a gem in the Zen Morning Blend!   We use a percolator that gets the water very hot, so I let my cup sit for a minute, right away I could smell the layers of chocolate and sweet fruit.  This coffee is smooth, a pleasure to sip, It definitely has my attention and I feel like I’ve treated myself well this morning.  This Zen Blend is a light-medium roast that has a mocha finish that is delightful!

A Little Color To My Story:

I am a self-taught coffee roaster. My education about coffee beans and roasting them has been obtained through reading numerous books and articles about the origins of coffee, the nature and nurturing of the tree, the blossom, cherry and then the bean, and the lengthy process of harvesting, sorting and processing. I began roasting green coffee beans in 2017. I do not grow my own coffee beans. However, I do buy from a very reputable distributor and I try to choose organic, farmgate and fair-trade coffee estates to purchase from. The better the estate and management of the coffee trees and crop, the better the product. My goal is to source the best beans possible so that I can successfully roast those beans into custom roasted batches of lovely beans that will make wonderful cups of coffee when brewed.

I started roasting coffee beans with a table top roaster and sharing fresh roasted coffee beans with co-workers. As I became more educated and experienced roasting coffee beans, I realized that roasting coffee beans and connecting with others over a lovely cup of coffee was something I wanted to be more involved in. I quit my full-time job and started to expand Red Umbrella Coffee Roaster.  I roast small batches, approximately 2 liters per load, to ensure that I have available the freshest coffee beans possible for my customers.

I do not compete with or try to ‘keep up with’ any of the large corporate coffee businesses. My goal is to offer my customers a small, friendly, home-town type of business where they feel comfortable asking about different beans, trying samples, and choosing Red Umbrella coffees for themselves and as a gift for the special people in their lives. I do not offer online sales. Folks stop by and find that special bean that is just right for them.

I drink all the beans I roast and have some I prefer over others. I personally prefer a darker roast as my ‘go to’ coffee, and my favorite bean seems to changes with the season. I find that I lean towards roasting the beans that my customers prefer. Right now, more of my customers prefer and buy the dark roasted beans so I have more beans available that offer more flavors when roasted dark. I also custom roast for customers. If a customer prefers one of the beans currently available at a different roast level I accommodate their request on the next roast date. I typically roast two consecutive days twice a month.

Red Umbrella Coffee Roaster is located in Mora, Minnesota as this is the location my husband I have decided would be a good place for us to retire as this was his hometown growing up.

The business name Red Umbrella Coffee Roaster came from a painting that was gifted to my parents when I was young and encapsulates fond memories of my youth.
